Alicante's town hall announces a lot of decent stuff very quietly, and Otoño en parques is this autumn's example. It sits on the city's agenda page for Sunday 27 September to Sunday 25 October 2026, and the name tells you the idea: autumn in the parks. What the listing doesn't tell you is almost everything else, so here's how to actually use it.

What Otoño en parques actually is

The name translates as "autumn in the parks", and that's the pitch: a month of park-based goings-on as the city comes back outside after summer. The hard facts are the dates - Sunday 27 September through Sunday 25 October 2026 - and the fact that it's official enough to sit on the town hall's agenda.

The catch: the listing is basically a poster

Right now the agenda entry gives you an image and the dates. No programme, no times, no list of which park gets what. That's normal here. Council events tend to publish their detail late, close to each date, and in Spanish.

So don't build a weekend around it yet. The move is the boring one: check the agenda page in the week you care about, not the month before.

Know your parks first

The programme points at the parks, so it helps to know which ones matter. Whether each of these hosts something is exactly what the agenda will confirm closer to the day, but all four are worth your time regardless:

• El Palmeral - the big palm park south of the centre, with ponds and shaded paths. The closest thing Alicante has to a proper picnic park.
• Parque Lo Morant - a large neighbourhood park in the north of the city. Wide, flat, full of local families, zero tourists.
• La Ereta - the terraced park on the hillside under the castle. More viewpoint walk than lawn, and the view over the bay is the reason you climb.
• Canalejas - small and old, near the marina, under some enormous century-old ficus trees. Ten shaded minutes, not an afternoon.

When autumn actually works for you

Late September and October are when Alicante's outdoor life comes back. The August heat is gone, days sit comfortably in the mid twenties, and evenings just want a light layer. Sunday late morning is family park time here; from about 2pm to 5pm everything pauses for lunch, then picks back up.

One honest warning: autumn on the Costa Blanca is also storm season. When rain comes, it tends to come all at once, and outdoor programmes are the first casualty. Check the sky and the listing the same morning you go.

Worth planning around?

As a headline event, no. As a bonus on a Sunday you were spending outside anyway, absolutely. If you only take one thing from this: pick a park day in October, then look at the agenda that week and see if the city has laid something on where you're headed.
