Alicante's town hall has put a month of park season on the calendar with a name, two dates, and not much else. Otoño en parques runs from Sunday 27 September to Sunday 25 October 2026, and the official listing tells you almost nothing about what's actually on. Here's what you can do with that.

What the listing actually says

The name means autumn in the parks. It sits on the city council's official agenda with those two dates attached. That's the lot. No parks named, no times, no prices, no list of activities.

That's not unusual for council event pages here. Details tend to land late, often only in Spanish, and sometimes only on posters in the parks themselves. So treat this as the heads-up, not the schedule.

Why the dates matter more than the details

Late September through late October is the best outdoor stretch of the year on this coast. The worst of the heat breaks, the sea is still warm enough to swim, and evenings are mild without being cold. The city also gets quieter once the summer crowds thin out, and the parks are where you feel that most.

So even if the programme turns out to be modest, the window it covers is worth planning around. If you've spent July and August hiding indoors from the heat, this is the month to stop.

Parks worth knowing, whatever ends up scheduled

The listing doesn't name venues, so none of the following is the official line-up. It's just the park geography of Alicante, which is useful either way.

• El Palmeral, south of the centre on the way out towards Urbanova. A big palm grove with ponds and shade, and the closest thing the city has to a classic picnic park.
• Parque Lo Morant, up in the northern neighbourhoods. Big, local, zero tourists. If you want the everyday side of Alicante, this is it.
• Canalejas, the strip of huge old ficus trees between the centre and the marina. Less a park than a shaded walk, but the easiest one to fold into a normal day in town.

How to plan around a thin listing

• Check the agenda page again a few days before you want to go. Council listings often get their detail attached late.
• Nothing about prices or booking is published. Don't promise the kids anything until the page confirms it.
• October is also when the first proper rain of the season tends to arrive here. If you're building a day around anything outdoors, keep an indoor fallback in your pocket.

One note on the opening weekend: the city is already busy that week. Atronador Fest is on 25 and 26 September, and there's a workshop at ULab on 25 September if you'd rather be indoors. If that weekend fills up, no stress. The programme runs until 25 October, so you're not missing your only shot.

The verdict

Should you build plans around Otoño en parques right now? No. There isn't enough published yet to plan with, and that's the honest downside of this one. Should you build plans around the month it covers? Absolutely. Put a park morning somewhere in your October regardless, and if the council's programme fills in with something good, that's a bonus.
