Bibliotekcafé

Bibliotekcafé is a library café on Calle Ramón Gallud in central Torrevieja, and it's about the calmest place in town to sit with a coffee and a book. The owner lived and studied in the Netherlands and brought the northern European library-café idea home with him. The shelves hold books in several languages, many donated by customers, and there's no telly. The coffee is specialty stuff made by baristas, from flat whites to espresso tonic and matcha. Food is built around tostadas de autor, toasts named after Spanish writers like Lorca, Machado and Miguel Hernández, plus what they call filosopizzas. It's a favourite with remote workers thanks to fast wifi and plug sockets you can actually reach from a table. There's a busy events calendar too: book clubs, author talks, jazz evenings and candlelit concerts. It closes for a break in the middle of the afternoon, so it suits a long morning best.
