Bibliotekcafé is a café built around a library, a few minutes from the centre of Torrevieja on Calle Ramón Gallud. Books line the walls in several languages, many of them donated by customers, and there is no television, which makes it one of the calmer places to sit in town. The owner, Agustín Esquiva Brotons, spent years living and studying in the Netherlands and brought the northern European library-café idea back to his home town. They serve specialty coffee made by baristas, alongside a menu of what they call tostadas de autor and filosopizzas. It has become a reliable spot for remote work: the wifi is fast, there are plug sockets you can actually reach from a table, and the background music sits quiet enough to take a phone call without stepping outside. Like most of Spain, it closes for siesta in the middle of the afternoon and reopens later, so it suits a long morning rather than a full working day.
