Cervecería Sento Rambla

Sento Rambla is the central branch of Alicante's much-loved montadito chain, just off the Rambla on Calle Girona, and it's where you go for cheap, inventive little sandwiches and a cold beer. The menu has more than 30 montaditos, and many are named after people. The one everyone talks about is the Iván, with veal loin, foie, turrón and rocket. Others to look out for are the alicantino, a mushroom stuffed with goat's cheese and bacon, and the chupachús de Jijona, sirloin with French cheese and turrón cream. There are tapas, bigger bocatas and salads too. The Sento group is run by the Arconada brothers and has several sites around the city. It's a small, cosy room and the staff get a lot of praise for being quick and friendly. It keeps long hours and serves through the day, which makes it a handy refuel between sights in the centre.
