Demordisco

Demordisco is a tiny Italian place in central Alicante, on Plaza Músico Óscar Tordera, and it's where you go when you want proper home-style Italian cooking rather than pizza and pasta by numbers. It's run by Demetrio Parisi and his partner Diletta, a couple from Trento, and the menu shifts with what's good at the market. The usual way in is the surprise tasting menu: you sit down and the dishes just arrive. Reviewers keep coming back to the bluefin tuna, the fresh pasta and the tiramisu, and there's a chocolate tart people rave about too. Prices are fair for the quality, which is a big part of why it climbed TheFork's national rankings. There are only a handful of tables and an open kitchen, so book ahead, especially at weekends.
