Gran Via Shopping Centre

Gran Vía is a mid-sized shopping centre on Alicante's ring road, and it's where a lot of locals do the big weekly shop. The largest unit is a Carrefour hypermarket, which is reason enough for many people to go. Around it you'll find roughly 70 shops and places to eat, with mainstream fashion names such as H&M plus everyday services, so it's more practical than glamorous. There's a kids' club area for families and a large underground car park with more than 500 spaces, which reviewers mention is free to use. It's handy if you live in the northern half of the city or are driving in from outside and want to avoid parking in the centre. Don't expect a day out, though. It's best for errands, groceries and a quick bite, rather than a full afternoon of browsing.
