El Faro

El Faro is a roadside Mediterranean restaurant on the N-332 at Santa Pola, the main coast road, and it's the sort of place locals use for a big seafood lunch or a family celebration. It's open for lunch every day and copes well with big groups; one reviewer was there for a wedding. The menu is wide-ranging Mediterranean with seafood front and centre. Diners mention rice dishes, paella and especially the fideuà, plus calamari, prawns, cigalas and shellfish platters. Oddly enough, the potatoes are one of the things people praise most. Service is described as attentive and efficient. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and it's a relaxed, child-friendly spot with a terrace for warm evenings. One reviewer wished the wine had come properly chilled, so ask for it cold. Book ahead if you're going for weekend lunch. Its old website no longer works, so ring rather than looking online.
