Pósito Pesquero

Pósito Pesquero is a seafood restaurant in Santa Pola's old fish-auction building on Carrer del Moll, by the port, and its angle is pairing Mediterranean fish with Japanese technique. Owner-chef Emilio Guillén heads to the town's fish auction every afternoon and local fishermen supply the catch, so the menu depends on what came in that day. The nigiri change daily with the auction, and the menu runs across a cold and raw bar, sushi, tempura and a charcoal oven. There's a non-Japanese side too: rices cooked by Emilia Belmonte, a well-known local arrocera and the chef's mother, with lobster paella a reviewer favourite. Diners also rave about the tempura sea bass and the way the owner talks you through the menu. Expect roughly 35 to 60 euros a head, a little more than most of the port, but reviewers reckon it's worth it. The Repsol Guide recommends it for 2026. It's dinner only, Tuesday to Sunday from 7.30pm, so book online or by phone.
