Santa Pola
A fishing port south of Alicante, and the main jumping-off point for Tabarca.
Santa Pola is a fishing town about 20 minutes south of Alicante, and the fishing is still a big part of daily life here. That makes it one of the better places on the coast for seafood and rice dishes.
The salt flats behind the town are a natural park where you can usually see flamingos, and boats leave the port for Tabarca, a tiny island with a walled village and clear water for snorkelling. Beaches run along both sides of the town.
