Villajoyosa
Painted houses on the seafront and a long history of chocolate making.
Villajoyosa, La Vila Joiosa in Valencian, is famous for the brightly painted houses along its seafront. The story goes that fishermen's houses were painted in different colours so they could spot home from the sea.
It's also a chocolate town. Valor is based here and has a museum you can visit. The beach is right in town, the old quarter is good for a wander, and the TRAM stops here on the way between Alicante and Benidorm.
