La Cava Aragonesa

La Cava Aragonesa is the big, buzzy pintxos bar on Plaza de la Constitución in Benidorm's old town, and it's where you go to graze along a bar loaded with tapas and pinchos. It's a local institution, popular with families and groups as much as tourists, and it's almost always rammed. The counter is the show: rows of pinchos you pick by eye, plus raciones of jamón, torreznos (crispy pork belly), fried bits, octopus, razor clams and zamburiñas. There's a decent wine list and the beer is properly cold. Reviewers rate the variety and the portion sizes, though the seafood can be hit and miss. Go in knowing it's loud and packed, especially in the evening. It can take a while to get served and to catch a waiter's eye at peak times, and some find it pricier than they expected for tapas.
