The skyline town, busy all year round, with more going on than its reputation suggests.
Benidorm is about 45 minutes up the coast from Alicante, and it's busy all year. Two big beaches, Levante and Poniente, sit either side of a small old town, and the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint at the end of it is the best free view on the Costa Blanca.
Levante is where most of the British bars and shows are. The old town has the better tapas and a more Spanish feel, and Poniente is quieter and more local. Winter is popular with long-stay visitors because most places stay open, and the town's patron saint fiestas take over in November. The TRAM runs here from Alicante, and Guadalest and Altea are short trips away.
