Pilates House

Pilates House is a machine Pilates studio on Avenida de la Costa Blanca in Playa de San Juan, a short hop from the beach. Come here if you want reformer work in small groups with experienced teachers rather than a gym class. The studio has reformers, a Cadillac, chair, barrel and wall unit. Group classes take up to six people, and there are private and one-to-one sessions, pregnancy classes and a programme for people over 70. Sessions last 50 to 60 minutes and are sold in monthly packs. Newcomers can ask for the welcome pack, which is the studio's way in for beginners. It's run by Eduardo Grafiada and Rocío Báez, who between them have more than 25 years of teaching. Both trained with Movimiento Pilates and have worked in clinics alongside physios and orthopaedic specialists. It's open weekdays from morning to evening and closed at weekends, so it suits locals more than weekend visitors.
