Alicante Airport to Torrevieja: Bus, Taxi & Transfer Guide

There is a direct €7 bus, whatever the forums say. Times, the late-flight problem, taxis and transfers.

Getting from Alicante airport to Torrevieja is easier than people think. Costa Azul runs a direct, non-stop bus from the terminal to Torrevieja bus station for €7, roughly every hour from morning until about 9pm, and it takes 40 minutes to an hour. A taxi is around €65 to €80 and takes about 40 minutes.

Quick facts

  • Bus: Costa Azul, airport to Torrevieja, non-stop, every day of the year.
  • Fare: €7 single. Under-4s free with ID.
  • Stop at the airport: upper floor (departures).
  • Arrives: Torrevieja bus station, Calle del Mar.
  • Taxi: around €65-80 per car.
  • Transfer: from around €50 per car, booked ahead.
  • Distance: about 45 km.

The Costa Azul bus, step by step

  • Head upstairs. Costa Azul's airport stop is on the upper floor, the departures level, like the other coaches. ALSA's airport page explains the layout: go out of the departures doors and cross to the bus bays opposite check-in.
  • Pay the driver. At the airport you buy your ticket on the bus, no booking needed. You can also buy online from costazul.net. It's €7. Pensioners get 30% off, but only if you're over 65 and resident in the Valencian region, with ID to prove it.
  • Bags go underneath. There's luggage space and free wifi on board.
  • Sit back. The bus goes non-stop up the inland motorway instead of crawling along the N-332 coast road, which saves a lot of time in summer. Aena puts the trip at about 40 minutes. Costa Azul's timetable allows around an hour.
  • Get off at Torrevieja bus station on Calle del Mar, right in town. From there it's a short taxi to most apartments, or a walk if you're staying central.

Bus times, and the late-flight problem

The bus runs roughly hourly through the day. In the other direction, the Torrevieja to airport timetable for Sunday 18 October 2026 had departures from 07:00 to 20:00. From the airport, the last bus is usually around 9pm. Check the date you're travelling, because times change with the season.

A lot of the evening flights from Ireland and the UK land after 9pm. If yours is due in after about 8.30pm, or it has a habit of running late, don't count on the last bus. Book a transfer, or plan on the taxi rank. Nobody wants to start a holiday stuck in arrivals.

Taxi from Alicante airport to Torrevieja

The rank is right outside arrivals. Aena says the official airport taxis are Radio Taxi Elche and Servitaxi Elche, with a green stripe and Elche's crest on the doors. There's a €4.25 airport supplement. To Torrevieja expect around €65 to €80 on the meter (taxisalicante.com's range), and Servitaxi Elx lists €72 for a pre-booked fare. If you're going further down to La Zenia or Playa Flamenca, Servitaxi lists €82 and €81. Nights, Sundays and holidays cost more.

Split between three or four people, it's not a bad deal at all.

Private transfers and shuttles

A pre-booked transfer gives you a fixed price, a driver in arrivals with your name, and flight tracking if you're delayed. For Torrevieja, expect from around €50 to €65 a car. It's the one to book for a late landing, or if you're heading to an urbanisation with no proper address the taxi driver will recognise. Ask for child seats when you book.

Hire car

Torrevieja and the urbanisations around it are spread out, and a lot of villas and apartments are a fair way from a bus stop. If you're staying more than a few days, a car makes life easier. The hire desks are on the ground floor of the terminal, and the drive is around 45 km south.

Going to Guardamar, La Mata or Orihuela Costa?

  • Guardamar: Aena lists a Bus Sigüenza line linking the airport with Guardamar and Almoradí. Check times on the Bus Sigüenza site.
  • La Mata: take the Costa Azul bus into Torrevieja and a short taxi back up, or get a taxi or transfer from the airport.
  • Orihuela Costa (La Zenia, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca): taxi or transfer is simplest. Servitaxi lists €82 for La Zenia and €84 for Cabo Roig.

Going back to the airport

Buses leave Torrevieja bus station roughly hourly from 7am to 8pm (going by the October 2026 Sunday timetable) and take about an hour. The station ticket office opens 6:30am to 9:30pm Monday to Friday, and 9am to 1:30pm and 2:30pm to 6pm at weekends and on holidays. The first bus leaves at around 6.30 to 7am depending on the day, so for an early flight you'll need a taxi.

Once you're settled

Take a walk along the Paseo del Mar, have a long lunch at Lonja de Torrevieja by the port, and check out our pick of Torrevieja's beach bars. If you're around in November, the Dire Straits tribute night on 13 November is a good one. Shopping-wise, Zenia Boulevard is the big mall down the road.
