Nic Combinados Y Cocteles

NiC is one of Alicante's serious cocktail bars, on Calle Castaños, and it's where you go when you want a drink made with real care rather than a quick copa. It's been mixing since 2002 and picked up a national cocktail award in 2010. The menu changes with a set of monthly specials, often built around gin infusions with fruit, herbs and spices, and there are interesting takes on the gin and tonic too. Specials sit around the ten euro mark, which is fair for the level of work in the glass. The room is cosy and a bit sophisticated, good for a date or a catch-up before dinner. It opens from midday and closes around 1am in the week, later on Fridays and Saturdays, so it suits an early evening drink as well as a late one. They also run private events and cocktail masterclasses if you're planning something with a group.
