Altamira Rotonda

Altamira Rotonda is a long-running café-bar on a roundabout in Alicante, open since 1998, and it's the sort of place you go for a drink on the terrace rather than a big dinner out. It sits on the Glorieta del Músico Emilio Álvarez Antón, among residential streets rather than tourist ones. Inside it's got a wood-panelled, Irish-pub kind of feel, and outside there's a terrace that's heated in the cooler months. The menu runs from breakfasts and burgers through to paella, with cocktails and plenty of beer. Its own website says it opens from early morning until about 2:30am every day of the year, which makes it handy at odd hours. Honest take: people rate the drinks, the terrace and the friendly staff, but the food gets mixed reviews and some find it pricey for what you get. Service can drag when it's packed, so go off-peak if you're in a hurry.
