Restaurante Daksa

Daksa is a modern arrocería on Avenida de Niza in Playa de San Juan, a block from the promenade, and it's a solid choice for a proper paella lunch with friendly, switched-on service. It's smart inside, with an interior terrace, and fills up with families and groups at weekends. Rice and paella are the main event, and most reviewers rate them highly, though one recent visitor found theirs bitter and light on seafood, so results can vary. Around the rice, people like the grilled octopus, ham and cod croquettes and fried calamari. Save room for dessert: the torrija, the chocolate coulant and the cheesecake all get mentions, and there are gluten-free desserts. There's a set menu for around 25 euros that regulars call good value. Staff get a lot of praise, including for looking after coeliac diners.
