Restaurante Casa Domingo

Casa Domingo has been cooking on the seafront at Playa de San Juan since 1951, and it's an old-school pick when you want rice with the sea in front of you. They're happy to say rice is what they do best, and that's what most people come for. The easy way in is the Menú Domingo, listed at 35 euros a head (minimum two people, drinks extra), which brings bay squid and grilled prawns before the house Arroz Domingo. Otherwise the menu is traditional Mediterranean, built around rice, fish and seafood, cooked the way it's been done here for more than 70 years. It's family-run and right on the Avenida de Niza beachfront, with a terrace looking at the sea. Reviewers praise the grilled squid, seafood and tapas, though a few have found service rushed when it's heaving and one had a paella arrive lukewarm. It's very popular, so book by phone. Rices are made for two or more.
