Restaurante Casa Julio

Casa Julio has been on the sand at Playa de San Juan since 1948, run by the same family for generations, and it's the one to book if you want your rice with your feet practically on the beach. The terrace spills right out onto the sand. Rice and seafood are the backbone. Diners keep mentioning the arroz a banda, arroz del senyoret and rice with clams and monkfish, plus sea bass, huevos rotos with ham, and the cheesecake to finish. There's a bar with high tables for a pre-lunch drink, a main dining room and an air-conditioned indoor area for the hottest days. It's a lunch place: the kitchen runs from 1pm to 4pm and it's closed on Tuesdays. It fills up, so book ahead through the website and ask for a beachfront table if you want the view.
